your favorite color is green. you love surprises.
i’d like to pretend we’ve got time on our hands.
fleeting inherently, fleeting in necessity--
find us stargazing, living fast in a haze.
every day feels like the final days of summer.
so enlighten me, o salt and light.
drown me in laughter, lady discotheque.
i walked in one day, not knowing my destiny--
to love what was previously called unloveable.
but i was more than willing to bet you were
more frank than fingernail, more green than thumb.
together, we turn like the sun & moon. all this to say--
despite knowing what eventually happens to all
lovers, something about this love must be eternal.
